Our Story
Decades of Delivering Delights
Established in 1998, Tharavadu Kitchen began when Thankamani Amma started packing meals for shop workers near Sakthan Thampuran Road. The banana-leaf lunches became the talk of the lane, and by 2003, regulars were lining up before she'd opened the gate.
Today, her daughter Sreelakshmi runs the same kitchen with the same values — coconut oil from their compound trees, tamarind sun-dried on the roof, fish bought at Chalakudy market before dawn. We have never opened a second branch.

Meet the Cook
Sreelakshmi carries forward the legacy her mother Thankamani Amma built from scratch in 1998 — a kitchen where every dish is made the slow way, the right way. She oversees every pot, every spice, every flame.
After years running the kitchen behind the scenes, she is now the face of Tharavadu Kitchen — a woman who believes that food cooked in a hurry is food that knows it was rushed. Her philosophy shapes every meal served here.
"My mother used to say, if you cook in a hurry, the food knows. So we never hurry."
— Sreelakshmi Varma, Head Cook & OwnerWhat's New
